Merrell Moab Ventilator Review
Although the Merrell Moab Ventilator is available as both a hiking/trail running shoe and a mid-height boot, the shoe version attracts the most user reviews. A professional review in Boys’ Life magazine targets the mid-height boot, declaring them so light that they feel like running shoes; The well-ventilated mesh-and-leather combination in both boot and shoe makes a good choice for summer hiking. Some users say the light, comfortable and supportive shoes are good for summer but too poorly insulated to use during the winter. Multi-surface grip and tread life are additional highlights. The main complaints we saw about these trail shoes are that they’re not waterproof and not terribly durable, the latter being a common problem with most light hikers.
The Moab Ventilator shoe appears in articles from The Seattle Times and Boys’ Life magazine. As with the Moab XCR it’s hard to be sure we’re looking at the right model, or more importantly that Cabela’s user reviewers were looking at the right model. REI.com and Moosejaw.com are much more straightforward to navigate, clearly separating the waterproof and non-waterproof models.
