The Best Book Lights for Reading in Bed Reviews 2023
The XtraFlex2 LED Book Light is a compulsive little multi-tasker—you’ll even be grilling by its light in no time!
In our testing, it shined just enough light for personal reading, but not so much that it leaks into your roommate’s space when they’re trying to sleep.
With more than 1,100 Amazon reviews, the XtraFlex2 has 4.5 stars on Amazon and what amounts to practically a cult following on book blogs. Curious about the hype, I tested the XtraFlex2 against two of its most well-reviewed competitors, the Energizer LED Book Light and its mini-me, the Mighty Bright TravelFlex.
The Energizer was the brightest, but that was actually too bright. The TravelFlex was too dim. The XtraFlex2 with its two dimness settings, was the only one that hit the goldilocks level. I prefered the dimmer setting for reading, and the brighter one for looking for lost stuff or cats underneath my bed. What’s more, it manages 28 hours of reading on three AAAs whereas the Energizer lasts only 10 hours before needing a new, semi-obscure CR2032 battery.
